This group focuses on discussion around issues related to substance use and mental health and how these issues affect each person’s quality of life. The group provides an environment designed to assist individuals to become aware of their own experiences of concurrent disorders and encourages participants to practice effective ways of interacting while developing new skills.

Mindful Mondays

Walk-In Counselling Clinic

The North Simcoe Walk-In Counselling Clinic is located at CSC Chigamik CHC. This service is a collaborative partnership with Canadian Mental Health Association Simcoe County, Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County, CSC Chigamik CHC, Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care andWendat

The Walk-In Counselling Clinic is open every Tuesday from 10:30am to 5:00pm to anyone in the North Simcoe Community. No appointment is necessary.

This service may be helpful if you are experiencing issues such as: family conflict, stress, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, addictions, or abuse. You will usually be seen in order of arrival, although some exceptions are made depending on the presenting issue. You will be provided a one-hour session with a counsellor to help you develop a plan. Sessions are meant to be a one-time meeting, however, you can make use of this service in the future.

Goodbye Depression

Join this 12-week program that uses Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) skills to help manage depression. CBT is a psycho-social intervention that aims to improve mental health. CBT focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful behaviours, improving emotional regulation, and developing personal coping strategies that help solve current problems. *Registration must be completed by January 8th and includes screening for eligibility.

  • To inspire men to engage other men to get involved and stop abuse 
  • To support Aboriginal men who choose not to use violence

Healing Through Creating

First Steps for People Living with Dementia

First Steps is a 4-part education series for people living with dementia, along with family members or friends. It provides the opportunity to learn and share with others who are in the early stages of dementia. Topics include:

  • What is dementia and information on specific diagnosis, where applicable

  • The process of getting a diagnosis

  • Disclosure of diagnosis

  • Treatment options

  • Adapting activities to changing abilities

  • Brain Health strategies

  • Advance care planning

  • Building a circle of support
