Walk-In Counselling Clinic

The North Simcoe Walk-In Counselling Clinic is located at CSC Chigamik CHC. This service is a collaborative partnership with Canadian Mental Health Association Simcoe County, Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County, CSC Chigamik CHC, Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care andWendat

The Walk-In Counselling Clinic is open every Tuesday from 10:30am to 5:00pm to anyone in the North Simcoe Community. No appointment is necessary.

This service may be helpful if you are experiencing issues such as: family conflict, stress, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, addictions, or abuse. You will usually be seen in order of arrival, although some exceptions are made depending on the presenting issue. You will be provided a one-hour session with a counsellor to help you develop a plan. Sessions are meant to be a one-time meeting, however, you can make use of this service in the future.

Red Road to Recovery

This program uses the medicine wheel, lessons, and truths to guide individuals and/or their family members along a good path towards sobriety. This program is based on the Red Road to Recovery model, which is an Indigenous holistic approach to healing and self-wellness, to address the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual aspects of addiction recovery.

Quit Café

Do YOU want to QUIT SMOKING? Chigamik’s Quit Cafe is a good place to start! Join us for a weekly quit smoking support group & receive FREE Nicotine Replacement Therapy (i.e. the patch, gum, lozenges, or inhaler) to start you on your smoking cessation journey! Breakfast snacks, refreshments, and smoking cessation resources are available each week.

Important: There will be no Quit Café on Thursday September 26th due to staff training.

Goodbye Anxiety

Join this 12-week program that uses Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) skills to help manage anxiety. CBT is a psycho-social intervention that aims to improve mental health. CBT focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful behaviours, improving emotional regulation, and developing personal coping strategies that help solve current problems. *Includes screening for eligibility.

Concurrent Disorders Group

This group focuses on discussion around issues related to substance use and mental health and how these issues affect each person’s quality of life. The group provides an environment designed to assist individuals to become aware of their own experiences of concurrent disorders and encourages participants to practice effective ways of interacting while developing new skills.

Mindful Mondays

This free, drop-in class fosters an accepting, non-judgmental environment to learn and practice different mindfulness exercises and topics each week. Sample topics include, learning how to breathe, awareness of your senses, the power of choice, mindful movement, and mindful pain management. *All levels are welcome! No registration is required.
