Better Sleep, Better You @ Chigamik Online Zoom Sessions

Learning good sleep habits is essential for optimal physical and mental health. This sleep program is for individuals who struggle to get a good night’s sleep, including those who have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep and those who do not feel well rested following a night of sleep. This informative workshop uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia principals and provides practical tools to improve both the quality and quantity of your sleep. Over the 6 weeks the group will cover the following topics:

  • General sleep education and sleep science
  • Causes of sleep issues, healthy sleep habits, and strategies for strengthening the bed-sleep connection
  • Understanding the impact of thoughts on sleep including tools for managing racing nighttime thoughts, the practice of re-framing day-time thoughts, and relaxation strategies
  • Completing a daily sleep journal, either on paper or via an app, will be required as part of this program. This important tool will be used to determine individualized sleep needs and will allow participants to observe their progress
  • The final week of the program will be used to troubleshoot issues and review maintenance of the program

How it works

  • The group will have a maximum of 8 participants and will meet for a total of 6 sessions starting on Thursday, November 18th, 2021
  • The program facilitator will call each registrant prior to the start of the program to review program goals, the sleep journal and answer any questions he/she may have
  • Participants will have the opportunity to book a one-on-one sleep consultation at no cost with the program facilitator to go over individualized sleep questions or concerns. One-on-one consultations can be booked from November 18th to Jan. 13th by emailing sleep@chigamik.ca.
