Indigenous Youth Series: Girls' Rites of Passage Teachings & Story Activity @ Chigamik Online Zoom Sessions

This workshop is being offered by the North Simcoe Youth Wellness Hub, in partnership with Chigamik Community Health Centre. This workshop is free and available to youth between the ages of 12 and 25 years of age.

What is this workshop about?
Healer, Luana Shirt, will provide young women with teachings about the Berry Fast and preparation for a girl’s first menses from an Ojibway understanding. The Rites of Passage will give a life direction and roles and responsibilities for a life long journey. During the workshop, Luana and Julia will teach participants how to design, paint and fashion parfleche earrings. Each participant will be mailed a craft kit that includes all of the necessary materials to create the earrings, at no cost, prior to the activity.
