People who suffer from daily, excruciating pain from an injury or chronic illness such as Fibromyalgia, often have to lean new ways to adapt to their physical limitations. That\u2019s why CSC CHIGAMIK CHC is offering members of the community an opportunity to take part in a new dance\/movement program, the first of its kind in Ontario. Located at CHIGAMIK\u2019s new Centre for Applied NeuroDance Research, Farewell Fibro is a dance therapy program that is specifically designed to benefit people with Fibromyalgia\u2026and it\u2019s making a difference!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cI was looking for an activity that I was able to take part in with Fibromyalgia. When I first attended the class, it was much more than what I expected it to be. After a few classes, I found that I was gaining muscle, and mobility, I wasn\u2019t in as much pain and I was having fun! It was truly amazing! \u201cI\u2019ve had Fibromyalgia for a year and a half and I\u2019ve been looking for different avenues to help me deal with pain management. At the end of each class, I felt mentally more alert. Due to the need to concentrate on the movements throughout the class, I found that I was I able to go home and concentrate on work better than ever before. Not only did I feel mentally and physically better after the class, it also provided me with some social support. Speaking to others who have had Fibro for many years helped me learn more about pain management and better tools to help me cope with it.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cI was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia a year and a half ago and the pain has been steadily increasing. I just turned 50 and my mobility is decreasing very quickly. I used to be extremely active and enjoyed doing physical activity. I joined the dance therapy class to help me deal with the pain of Fibro as well as other health conditions I have with my spine and legs. I want to stay as physically active as I can for as long as I possibly can and dance therapy really helped me. I couldn\u2019t do all the movements in the class, but I was very happy to attend and do as I much as I could on those days. Having other people around me understand what I was going through was a great feeling. Rebecca is an excellent instructor and provides modifications for those who couldn\u2019t do all the movements due to pain. It was a great class \u2013 thank you!\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
