CSC CHIGAMIK CHC Expands its Midwifery Services to the Community

March 2, 2017

Midland, Ontario – March 2, 2017 – Centre de santé communautaire CHIGAMIK Community Health Centre (CSC CHIGAMIK CHC) is pleased to announce the Midland Midwives Nottawasaga have expanded their operations within CSC CHIGAMIK CHC to offer more Midwifery services to residents of Midland and surrounding areas.

In Ontario, Midwives are registered health professionals who provide primary care to families throughout the pregnancy and labour. They also provide care to both the mother and baby six weeks following the birth. Midwives can order all routine tests and ultrasounds and are available to their clients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If concerns or complications arise in the pregnancy, birth or six weeks following the birth, a midwife will consult or transfer care to an appropriate physician and remain in a supportive role, if possible.

CSC CHIGAMIK CHC clients now have access to more local midwifery care and services including:

  • A dedicated Midland team of midwives
  • Expanded clinic hours
  • A lending library with books and DVDs
  • Ongoing workshops and educational events
