A variety of unique features have been built into the new Community Health Hub to ensure it can provide supports and services for the entire north Simcoe community.
“We are paying close attention to the linguistic and cultural realities of our community and ensuring we are providing the right supports,” said David Jeffery, executive director of Chigamik Community Health Centre, which has relocated to the new hub.
Many of its meeting rooms are equipped with specialized ventilation to allow for smudging and other Indigenous ceremonial practices to take place without impacting the rest of the building’s air quality. There is also a soundproof room for drumming circles.
