The Biidaaban Doula Collective offers a wide range of doula services from preconception to postpartum as well as fertility and loss and bereavement care. Our goal is to provide full-circle informational, emotional, physical, and spiritual care to mothers and their families. Services are provided at no cost to First Nation, Métis and Inuit women and their families who reside in the North Simcoe Muskoka region.
Services We Offer
Birth Doula: A birth doula’s role is to help women have a safe and empowering birthing experience. Support may include the creation of a birth plan, information about Indigenous practices and remedies to support pregnancy and labour, and planning for birth and postpartum comfort measures.
Postpartum Doula: The postpartum doula’s main goals are to help support the mother at home and nurture the entire family as they transition into life with a newborn. Support may include help with light housework, making nutritional snacks or meals, breastfeeding support, assisting with basic newborn care, and information about indigenous postpartum remedies.
Loss and Bereavement Care: Our bereavement doulas provide support to families experiencing termination or loss or at any stage of pregnancy. Support may include standard postpartum care and companionship, non-medical physical, educational, emotional, and spiritual support, information about community resources and Indigenous knowledge that may be helpful throughout this experience.
Fertility and Reproductive Care: A fertility doula’s role is to equip and support women who are trying to conceive by providing education and guidance. Support may include education, fertility nutrition, accompaniment, and debrief companionship support for all journeys (for example, IUIs, IVF, contraception, and health care appointments.)
