Chigamik Community Health Centre Achieves CCA Accreditation

April 10, 2019

Midland, Ontario – April 11, 2019 – Centre de santé communautaire CHIGAMIK Community Health Centre (CSC CHIGAMIK CHC) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a four-year accreditation by the Canadian Centre for Accreditation (CCA), demonstrating its accountability to the community and its commitment to providing the highest quality programs and services.

“To be CCA Accredited is a truly significant accomplishment,” says Duncan Matheson, Board Chair, CSC Chigamik CHC. “Our stakeholders can be assured that we have undergone an extensive internal and external review process that measures our practices against sector and industry standards.”

Accreditation is a process that provides assurance from a respected third-party that the accredited organization meets commonly accepted standards for good governance, management, and excellence in service provision.

“One of the key benefits of participating in CCA’s accreditation program is that it promotes an ongoing culture of learning and quality improvement throughout the organization,” says Barbara Wiktorowicz, Executive Director, Canadian Centre for Accreditation. “Chigamik’s commitment to a client-centred approach was evident throughout the accreditation process. The on-site review team was impressed by the dedication and drive of staff to meet clients’ needs.”

Working together with clients and the community is at the heart of Community Health Centres in Ontario. Chigamik provides a combination of primary health care services, health promotion programs and community development initiatives that are culturally-relevant, holistic and available in English and French. Chigamik’s interprofessional health care team includes nurse practitioners, physicians, health promoters, mental health and addiction counsellors, dietitians, registered nurses, community health workers, administrators and management, among others. Together, they play a central role in developing programs and services that address the specific health care, cultural and social needs of the community.

“We are very proud of the work our staff does every day in delivering quality, innovative programs and services to our community. Being CCA Accredited is a great way to demonstrate to our clients and funders our accomplishments at not only an operational level but also in our business management and community governance,” says David Jeffery, Executive Director, CSC Chigamik CHC.
