A Taste of CHIGAMIK Event

This October, CHIGAMIK joined more than 100 community-based primary health care organizations across Ontario in celebrating Community Health and Wellbeing Month (CHWM). Coordinated by the Alliance for Healthier Communities, this annual initiative highlights the vital role community health centres play in building healthier, more connected communities.

The theme for 2025 was STANDING TOGETHER—a call to action reflecting our shared commitment to health equity. At CHIGAMIK, we continued our dedication to providing comprehensive, culturally safe, people-centred care, particularly for those who may face barriers to health and wellbeing.

Community health centres like CHIGAMIK do more than provide medical care. Under one roof, we offer primary health services alongside a range of community and social supports—from chronic disease management and mental health programs to cultural initiatives and social prescribing. This integrated, team-based approach helps improve outcomes for clients, strengthens support for providers, and contributes to a more sustainable health system.

A Taste of CHIGAMIK Event

As part of CHWM, we hosted A Taste of CHIGAMIK: Celebrating Community Health & Wellbeing on Thursday, October 23rd. The interactive afternoon offered a “taste test” of some of our most popular programs, including wellness and cultural teachings, movement, mindfulness, and music. Visitors received a special “menu” of programs to guide their experience while enjoying coffee, tea, and treats.

The event was a great success! A heartfelt thank you to our community for coming out and learning more about our free programs and services!
